Gainesville's only annual longboard skateboard event is back for the 5th year in a row! Fun for all ages on the Gainesville-Hawthorne trail.

Come on out to the fifth annual Briefcase Push Race! We are holding this event as a fundraiser for Skateistan: an international non-profit empowering youth through skateboarding and education in Afghanistan, Cambodia and South Africa (for more info see

THIS EVENT IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AND IS BEGINNER-FRIENDLY. Anyone can compete as long as they have a helmet (**REQUIRED**) and are registered to ride. Spectators are welcome as well.


  • 10k race (6.2 miles) that includes small hills with turns (top speed ~25mph)
  • 2-mile race on mainly flat land (very beginner friendly)
  • Flatground freestyle/dance competition (a few small ramps/features added)
  • Raffles for an assortment of sponsor product
  • Miniramp skateboard contest
  • Miscellaneous mini-contests for prizes (freestyle rap battle included)

There will be prizes for top 3 winners in Open, Women's and Groms divisions. FIRST PLACE IN EACH DIVISION WINS A BRIEFCASE FULL OF PRIZES!!!

Sign-in begins at 11:00 A.M. and push off for the first race is at noon sharp. Registration day of the event instead of online will cost an additional $5. Mini-ramp and freestyle contests are free for registered racers, otherwise it's a $5 registration fee. Don’t forget to bring cash for the raffles; we will be giving out a ton of prizes and all the money from entry fees and raffles goes straight to charity!

Wahines of the Waves is an all-women's surf, skate and wakeboard club at the University of Florida. Our mission is to encourage women's progression in board sports and boost the confidence of our athletes by creating a community of support.
